Director & Founder of Antfarm
When people plan to film in Baja California Sur, the first assumption is usually: we’ll need to fly in all our own gear. While Baja is remote. wild, and untamed, our film industry is growing to meet the needs of major productions.
Antfarm offers professional film production kits in La Paz, throughout BCS, and Baja California. We support everything from fast-moving documentary shoots to commercial productions and narrative films.
For a quick-turnaround shoot, a doc-style project, or a low-profile run-and-gun setup, chances are we already have exactly what you need without the headaches of shipping, customs, delays, or damage. If you need something we don’t already have, we can quickly source from bigger hubs like CDMX, TJ or through our contacts in Los Angeles.
Built for Baja: Experience Matters More Than Gear Lists
Baja is beautiful, but it’s demanding, including wind, sand, salty air, and constantly clear skies producing heat in the day that shifts to cold in the night. At least we don’t worry about rain here (except that one surprising day per year that bites you if you don’t protect your gear).
We’ve spent years working in these conditions, and our gear package reflects that experience. Everything we carry has been tested in real-world Baja scenarios, from beaches and deserts to boats, ranches, and urban locations.
We know how to move fast, stay light, and protect crew and equipment while delivering cinematic results. You don’t have to worry about anything when you partner with Antfarm for your production in Baja.
Camera Systems for Run-and-Gun or Full Production
Of course, cameras are the engine of your production. Our camera package is flexible, lightweight, and ready for real production workflows in Baja, and we offer several options to deliver the best results, including the Canon C80.

This camera, often a B camera for the Alexa, is perfect for documentary films. It’s small, nimble, portable, and powerful. Also, we can build it out easily for bigger productions and have had success with it in many settings. Check out the power of the Canon C80 in this video for Casa Serena yoga studio in La Paz, BCS:
To keep everything connected, we have hdmi wifi transmitters for wireless signals and all the batteries to ensure optimal viewing during production. Our equipment is ready for all the challenges of your production and succeeds in the most critical moments.
Lighting That Works With the Sun, Not Against It
Baja’s sun is relentless and looks incredible on film if you know how to harness it. Our lighting package controls, softens, and enhances natural light, instead of fighting it.
We shape, smooth and direct light with butterfly frames, reflectors, and ND nets.

We’ve also created cinematic scenes in the night or indoors with the local equipment available, it’s all about knowing how to improvise and make the moment as perfect as possible. Also, we offer stands and cables that support lighting. If there is anything we don’t already have locally, we can have it delivered from other places for your production to make the lighting the highest quality possible.
Movement, Grip, & Low-Profile Cinematic Tools
In our rugged landscapes, your equipment needs to move to capture everything the story requires. For movement without heavy rigs or large crews:
- Ronin 4 Pro Gimbal for smooth walk-and-talks or tracking shots
- Dana Dolly Portable Dolly System for controlled cinematic moves on location
- Hi-Hat, tripods, and fluid heads for tight spaces or ground-level shots
All this gear stays low-impact and efficient, perfect for documentary crews or productions that need to move quickly without drawing attention. You’ll be in and out before the burros know you are filming.

Sound You Can Trust in Baja’s Windy Conditions
Clean audio is often the hardest part of filming in Baja, but it’s also where quality equipment shines. During the cool season that’s best for every other part of filming, there’s also plenty of wind that wants to ruin your sound tech’s day.
We know how to manage wind, environmental noise, and fast-changing locations to get usable, professional audio in tough conditions. With correct mic positioning and dead cats, we record flawless sound for your production.
There’s also sand and dust to consider when filming and recording sound at any outdoor location on the Baja peninsula. Antfarm chooses the best equipment that can handle these conditions and our team meticulously cleans gear during and after shoots to ensure they stay working properly.
Production Support That Keeps Crews Moving
Beyond cameras and lights, there’s tons of logistics to keep a shoot moving on schedule. Antfarm equipment supports the reality of long filming days in remote locations with:
- Power stations and extensions
- Shade tents, tables, and chairs
- Changing tents and trash management
- Water systems, coolers, and reusable bottles
- Clappers, monitors, and on-set essentials
These details are critical to keep productions running smoothly in the Baja heat. This essential equipment would be too difficult to bring with you, and we offer it ready for your next production.
And If You Need Other Film Equipment in Baja?
If there’s a specific piece of gear we don’t already have, we can source it quickly from Mexico City, Guadalajara, Tijuana, or anywhere through our trusted network. Besides the standard shipping methods, we also have the insider Baja routes that can be faster and safer.
For example, our Canon C80 needed a small repair in Los Angeles before a recent commercial shoot. Normal shipping wasn’t going to get it done in time, but luckily an uncle of one of our team members ships tomatoes from Ensenada to La Paz weekly.
So, we packed the C80 carefully onto the tomato truck and wished it well on its journey. It made it to LA, was fixed, and our drone pilot who was coming from Tijuana for the production was able to pick it up and return it on the plane when he came down.
Whatever you need, we have the will and we have the Baja ways to deliver.
